The other day, I found something I liked at a store, and went to the register to check out. Two guys behind the counter were talking about music.
Rap Guy: Do you like rap?
Other Guy: Nah, not really man.
Rap Guy: What? You don’t listen to any rap? Not even Chamillionaire?
Other Guy: Well I kinda like the guy who was in that one movie…
Rap Guy: Which one?
Other Guy: That Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Vanilla Ice, yo. Word to your mother.
Vanilla Ice: gateway rapper for mullet heads.
The legend of Vanilla will never die. My GFs kids have memorized the first half thanks to a 6 inch high singing, dancing animatronic hamster their gramma has. Even mention ice at grandma’s house (say for your iced tea) and the boy starts singing.
I shouldn’t show my age by saying what I think of rap. Although I rather liked ‘The Message’ by Grandmaster Flash – had quite a groovy beat to it, I thought. But since then every rap record seems to have been devoid of anything different. We got the message already! (see what I did there?)
Super to have you back in my life again!
I’ll be over in a little place called Las Vegas in early May. Is that walking distance from Kansas? Maybe see you around. ;o)
