I moved to KCMO over 10 years ago. Yesterday, I was pulled over in KC for the first time. The police had a little speed trap set up on Ward Parkway, and they were stopping tons of cars for speeding. An officer said they clocked me going 48 in a 35… 2 miles less than reckless driving. I’m innocent I tell ya… or at least I wasn’t going that fast…
Damn, I may need a lawyer.
you may be able to go by yourself and save yourself $300. I did this in KCK last year. KCMO is short on money, they will be doing this a lot more than before.
I always get tickets for 13 mph over the speed limit – either 48 in a 35 or 38 in a 25. That’s why I have a radar detector now.
Let me guess, ward pkwy right about 57th-58th Street? Two dudes standing in the median with radar guns?
Last month they got me going 47 (which i swear was more like 42), and while they were at it noticed my expired out of state plates (like january 07). And…wait where is my proof of insurance? Not in the car at any rate. I know I’m dumb, but so is policing rich people’s front yards.
DLC — Yep, right there.
Okay here’s what you do. Go to court, approach the city atty. Who will be seated at the table to the right near the front of the courtroom. Ask for diversion, they will drop it down to a non moving violation, it will cost you a couple hundred, but you get no points and your insurance rates wont go up. Oh, and go in early before they call the docket. No need to thank me, I just hate to see the MAN trying to keep a librarian down.
I am pretty sure that you can get rid of one ticket a year as described above by MM.
We always knew you were a fast woman, but dang.
I’ve had two speeding tickets in my LIFE. The first in Iowa – a state trooper training a junior li’l buddy. No getting out of that one. I was 22. The other? Ward Parkway. I never speed on it (now.) A nice day & the moto-fuzz are all over it. Also, be mindful of the 1,400 school zones on Wornall. (I’ve counted seven between 89th & the Plaza, but it feels like 1,400.)
That blows. At least get it fixed! Mine stayed on my insurance for a couple o’ years….
I have a friend that is lawyer and does traffic stuff… just let me know.
