I found out that there’s a distillery in Wisconsin named Death’s Door Spirits. They make gin and vodka… no whiskey yet (Greg’s drink of choice). Even so, I think I’ll make a road trip when it gets warmer to buy a few bottles…
*Update — Brian at Death’s Door Spirits say that their whiskey will be available on April 1st. Now I’m planning a road trip for sure.
I wish that I could go with you.
Blue, I’ll bring some back for you.
I prefer bourbon, but vodka will do.
And I am sure Greg woulda been pleased!
WOW I will have to give you some money to pick some Vodka up for me too!
Or I can have it delivered to the doorstep!! I see where I can do that from Illinois.
Michelle,
Picked up that your blog was bringing us some traffic and thought I would check it out. We are a little spirits company here in Madison, WI. Our name comes from the stretch of water between Washington Island and the Door Peninsula here in Wisconsin. Death’s Door is the deadliest spot on the Great Lakes. All of our wheat for our spirits is grown by two farmers on Washington Island. Through searching a couple of different times, I have come across Greg Beck’s Death’s Door Blog and have read it. I am sorry to have not had the chance to meet Greg. Not only did he seem to have a personality that was bigger than life, he had a heart to match. I only hope that others speak so fondly of me when I am gone as they do of Greg. We would welcome anyone from the KCMO area to come for a visit- see our distillery in Madison or head up to Washington Island and take a trip on the ferry across Death’s Door. Our whisky will be available April 1st (no fooling) in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Warmly,
Brian Ellison, President

Hi Michelle,
Quick whisky update. Our Death’s Door White Whisky hit the shelves on Tuesday in Chicago and Wisconsin. I got a call from the Wisconsin distributor yesterday asking if we were going to make more, as they are sold out. Sooo, if you are wanting some of this first (and maybe only) batch, try ordering from Lush Wine and Spirits in Chicago (www.lushwineandspirits.com). The State of Wisconsin in their infinite wisdom outlawed on-line alcohol sales, so you can’t get it from Wisconsin….
We will be sampling both the white whisky and an aged whisky at WhiskeyFest in Chicago next Friday.
Best,
Brian Ellison, President
